How NDIS bulk payment requests work

A plain-English guide to NDIS bulk payment requests for providers and plan managers, and how to avoid common claim errors.

Providers and plan managers who claim from the NDIA for many participants usually submit claims in bulk rather than one by one. A bulk payment request is a file containing many claim lines that is uploaded through the NDIA provider portal.

What each claim line contains

  • Your registration number and the participant's NDIS number
  • The support start and end dates
  • The NDIS support item number
  • Quantity or hours, and the unit price
  • A claim reference so you can match the payment later
  • GST code and claim type

Common reasons claims are rejected

  • Price above the current NDIS price limit
  • Support dates outside the participant's plan
  • Not enough funding left in the support category
  • Wrong support item number for the support delivered
  • Missing or mismatched service booking where one is required
  • Duplicate claims for the same support

Tips for clean claiming

  • Check price limits and budgets before you claim, not after
  • Use a unique claim reference for every line
  • Reconcile remittances against your claims every time
  • Fix and resubmit rejected lines quickly
